Notes From Canelo

My Mission

Hello there! My name is Canelo, and I'm a Belgian Malinois. I was rescued by my new parents when I was just 10 weeks old, all the way from Tijuana, Mexico. Unfortunately, my sister Canela and I contracted Parvo at 5 weeks old. We both fought bravely, but Canela didn't make it. I believe she is in doggy heaven waiting for me.

My new parents brought me to my new home in California, USA! I've had a tough life, but I've kept my paws on the street and I'm living my best life. However, I sometimes feel misunderstood. I think it's because of the way I look, as many people we walk by are scared of me. I can't figure out why, but it might be because I bark a lot. It's not because I'm angry, but rather because I'm excited to play.

As a dog, I can't understand why humans sometimes fight over silly things like skin color. We doggies have every color and pattern under the sun, but we never fight about it. We think all colors are beautiful. Now that I'm 2 years old (14 in human years), I believe that the world needs to stop the hate and spread love. And you know what? I'm going to do something about it! We can all do our part, humans and dogs together, to make the world a better place.

My human dad told me a story about a note he received seven years ago. He found it on his car, and it changed his life. The note, left by a stranger, said, "YOU ARE POWERFUL." At that very moment, my dad was feeling lost and down. He was going through a difficult time, full of self-doubt and uncertainty. That note changed him. He said he sat in his car and cried for 30 minutes while looking at the note. It transformed his life from that moment forward. He focused on personal growth, improving himself physically, mentally, and emotionally.

After hearing his story about the note, I have decided to walk with my dad all over the United States and eventually the world. We'll travel and spread messages of encouragement, hope, and love. We'll leave inspiring notes on people's cars, doors, notebooks, wherever we can! I hope these notes will touch you with love and inspiration when you need it most. Life has its ups and downs, but we can never give up.

My goal in my short time here on earth (I hear I only get about 12 of your human years!) is to give hope, give love, give motivation, give inspiration, and change the world... ONE NOTE AT A TIME!
